This website is used internally by ECDJ to help their employees place part and product orders more quickly and more efficiently.

Westman Isshinryu Karate is the home of fun, fitness, self-defence, confidence and skill building in Brandon, Manitoba! Whether you are 4 to 84 (or older) they have something to offer! Isshinryu is a unique style of karate that lends itself perfectly to self-defence and personal protection. It is ideal for men, women and children. Isshinryu incorporates empty hand (karate) and Okinawan weapons training (kobudo).

Both the design and layout for the Westman Isshinryu Karate website is simple and clean to reflect Japanese esthetics, using strong geometric shapes, traditional colours of red, black and white and white space.

In a beautiful home-like atmosphere, The Core Family Health Centre is a family medical clinic where allied health practitioners work together to help local families. Located in London, Ontario, the Core Family Health Centre offers a full array of services, from general medical to specialty such as custom orthotics, massage therapy, physiotherapy, clinical pilates and psychotherapy.

The design for The Core Family Health Centre website had to be fresh and upbeat, incorporating the colours of the brand, but still clean and professional. We wanted the website to be very personal and very easy to connect to, so we incorporated photos of the Centre showcasing the warm and inviting heritage-style architecture, as well as of their fantastic group of practitioners and the work they do.

The layout is classic in terms of navigation and content so that visitors will find it familiar and easy to use. It is also highly adaptable to accommodate the varying kinds of information: pictures, videos, lists, text, etc. that need to be moved, removed or replaced as needed.

Andrea Nair, M.A., CCC is a psychotherapist with the The Core Family Health Centre and is also a published writer. Her goal is to help parents connect with, commit to, and care for themselves and their families. She does this by working with families through both their every-day and extraordinary experiences, as well as offering parenting books and online resources.

For Andrea's website, my focus was to blend the different aspects of her careers into one design. The site conveys a sense of warmth and nurturing, has a creative and organic feel and the clean lines and precise layout demonstrate the professional nature of her services. Andrea is a mother and her site is targeted mostly to other mothers, so I designed it to be feminine, but not overly frilly. The tactile nature ties in with her writing. Because of her therapeutic services, it was also important that the site had a soothing, calm energy.

As for the layout, the top section showcases inspiring quotes. Directly below is a promotional area for her upcoming events and a recent publications. There is also an area for the latest from her blog, which will bring visitors to the blog itself and create more traffic. The site is also linked to her Facebook profile page. An important factor of the layout is its flexibility.

Established in 1991, Deveaution Tiling has provided professional and personalized services in the Winnipeg area for 20 years. Their wealth of experience means that they can handle any project, residential or commercial, from kitchen floors and backsplashes to fire places to showers, baths and Jacuzzis. They've worked with ceramic, porcelain, mosaic, glass, hand made tiles and more.

The quality and breadth of their services as well as the relationships that they've developed in the local industry means that they're also able to provide top grade materials at competitive prices.

The design of the website was based on a blend of both modern and heritage esthetics to reflect the stylish nature and quality workmanship offered by Deveaution Tiling, as well as the classic and masculine personal style of the owner, Kevin Deveau. The heritage style is reflected in the font choice, the background patterns and the traditional layout, while the colour palette of black and yellow gives it an edge.

The end result? A website that is sophisticated, sexy and elegant and whose boldness sets it apart from local and national competition.

The world of family medicine is exciting, intellectually stimulating, professionally satisfying, and fun; but at times, it can be incredibly frustrating, challenging, and emotionally draining! Dr. Nair's goal with the site is to offer resources to help family physicians get the most out of their practice and out of their lives.

Based on a blend of both a traditional website layout and a long-copy style, the website is designed to provide all the information the visitor needs on the home page, allowing them to scroll effortlessly to access the desired information, while offering them the option of viewing other pages if they want to go a litte more in depth.

The website is clean, modern and makes good use of the trustworthy nature of an all-blue colour palette.

The Manitoba Natural Resource Officers' Association (MNROA) is a non-profit organization dedicated to maintaining a high standard of professionalism among its members, to promote mutual interests and to increase public awareness of issues and concerns affecting Manitoba's Natural Resources and its officers.

The Manitoba Natural Resource Officers' Association greatly supports and encourages the participation of the public in our efforts to conserve and protect our natural resources for today and for future generations.

Part of that support and encouragement is a website that offers public information on the latest happenings in the world of wildlife and natural resources, such as articles written by members themselves and photo galleries of the local hunting, fishing and patrol action. A flexible, yet structured layout was critical to maintain ease of use, while still providing site visitors with maximum information and entertainment options.

One of the most popular sections is Take Down Tales, a continuously updated review of violations of natural resource laws, such as poaching.

This was an extremely exciting project to work on and I especially enjoyed designing the "sleeping bag chic" esthetic of the site.

The Getting to Better Initiative has a simple vision and a simple mission... To inspire individuals, families and communities to construct and support a better world for themselves and for others; through individual and collective contributions of knowledge, experience, talents and skills.

Steve de Groot, a clinical and organizational consultant and counselor, is the driving force behind this mission, which currently has three primary focuses:

1. The G2B Challenge, which encourages people to "pay it forward" and then submit their name for a draw of $1000—which they will use to help someone else get to better.
2. The G2B Workshop Series, which offers practical and inspiring advice for building and sustaining quality relationships.
3. and the G2B eNewsletter, offered monthly, which covers a wide range of subject matter from how to find a therapist, to how to become more approchable!

When Steve and I were originally brainstorming about the brand, a vision kept coming to him—a vision of two people walking hand in hand, off into the sun. It was indeed the perfect metaphor, and provided us with the perfect jumping off point for our colour palette and other graphic elements. Getting to Better is all about positive energy... and what better way to showcase that energy than with cheery yellows and deep, warm blues.

It was very important for the website to epitomize this passion and a sense of luxury. It also had to have a European flavour that distinctly tied the website experience with their customers' in-store experience. Overall, the website is elegant and sophisticated, yet playful and sexy. It's feminine without being girly. In order to have universal appeal to a wide age demographic, the design has a traditional base with a good dose of edge. The New Beginnings website definitely stands out in the sea of plain, cookie-cutter lingerie websites and actively demonstrates the high end quality of both their products and their services to their clientele.
